Lee’s music combines folk, rock, blues, and country to create a blend that’s melodic, driving, Southern, witty, and heartfelt. His passionate voice goes from silky smooth to belting. His songs range from tender and intimate to outrageous. As often as possible, he’s joined by his darlin’, Claudia Voyles, on electric bass and sultry vocals.

Lee was born in Milwaukee and grew up outside of Dallas. Watching his small hometown grow into a large, paved, generic suburb helped forge his love for nature and for unique, personal expression. He has lived most of his adult life in Austin. He completed a philosophy degree at the University of Texas, then a Ph.D. in psychology at the University of Maryland. Now he draws on both backgrounds to create music for both heart and mind.

Lee started out in the house band of a rural steakhouse at age 18 and played quite a bit around the Washington, D.C. area while also attending graduate school. Then he graduated to Austin rock bands and the faculty-staff band at Southwestern University.

Now Lee plays around Texas—solo, with Claudia, with amazing multi-instrumentalist Jon Kemppainen, or with a full band—and he maintains a small psychotherapy practice in Austin. He has a strong fan base in Austin and performs regularly at venues such as Antone’s and Waterloo Ice House as well as at private events around the state. The repertoire is mostly original music, but some creative arrangements of other people’s songs get thrown in as well. Shows are fun and intimate. Lee believes in making a performance honest and enjoyable. He draws the audience into being part of the music, and they respond by singing along. It's music from the heart, and it’s good for the soul.
